Knowledge InSight was founded by Adam Hodges, a university professor and learning design consultant with over two decades of teaching experience — including four years working internationally to develop and deliver American university curriculum to a global audience in the Middle East.
After returning to the United States from his time abroad, he spent time in Silicon Valley where he began working with the Teaching & Learning team at Coursera to develop content quality standards and train course teams in instructional design best practices. He returned home to Colorado in 2019 and continues to work closely with Coursera’s university and industry partners to help advance access to the world’s best learning experiences.

Our Approach
We use a learner-centered backwards design process that starts by understanding your target learner and the outcomes you want your learners to achieve by the end of the course. Next, we develop an assessment plan that allows your learners to work toward and demonstrate mastery of the outcomes. We then outline the instructional materials — videos, readings, activities — to scaffold the learning path, ensuring a tight alignment among outcomes, assessments, and instruction.
Along the way and prior to course launch, we provide quality assurance reviews to ensure instructional design best practices are implemented in line with Coursera’s top-performing content.
